A quick update.

UPDATE… The horses and I are safe and sound with the most wonderful couple in the most amazing ranch in Oreana, Idaho.

Once again. I am filled with gratitude and restored with a faith in humanity. This is not what I set out to find, or thought I would find, but have, over and over and over again.

Thank you all who have cared and offered and tried so kindly.

Today the horses will be resting, off the road and on lush pasture, and I’ll be regrouping and rerouting. planning the next leg of our journey, working our way around the heat of high summer, dry of the desert, and uncertainty of finding safe passage through unknown country. And trying to find the balance between my dream of independence along this journey, and the reality of interdependence. It’s humbling to find yourself reaching out more than you ever have, when what you thought you’d be doing was just sitting in the saddle on your own trip.

You know,  this journey has never been about getting from point  a to point b the fastest, most efficient way.  It’s been that journey thing not the destination thing.  It’s about being flexible and adjusting, especially when it comes to the well being of my horses.  So though I fully intend to get there (Colorado), how and what way, and what happens along the way… that is what this is all about.

Thanks to so many (my husband Bob most of all) for sticking with me along the way.

  1. Gin, your buddies from the desert are glad you are safe! Get those horses some carrots and chocolate peanut butter treats!
    Good luck,
    David

  2. Well heck, I could use some buckeyes right about now…
The ponies sure loved all the attention and care out of the blue. Dang, that was an unexpected oasis for us all.
