Finish what you start.

Go. Before I either get too comfortable and forget why I’m here. Or start feeling like a caged bird…

Go. Get back out there. Continue onward. Finish what you start. Complete what you set out to do.

Didn’t take long to bounce back. I’d like to take credit for such fortitude. But there’s more to it than that. There’s angels and the right people at the right time, and things like prayer, that I really can’t explain, but how else do you explain how beautifully this has worked?

It’s humbling. Once again.

No, I’m not 100%. Might take a few months to recover from all this. That’s what home, and winter, are for. But I know I’ve got what it takes to finish what I started. Boy, am I close. And the horses are willing to go.

Yes, I am ready to get back out there.

So tomorrow, we’ll go.

Today we’re in Ogden, Utah. With just the right people and just the right place to heal.

Truth is, I had wanted some sentimental ride sitting tall and proud as my horses led me out of Idaho. A little celebration for that state that had been so great. I was close, just an hour and a half horseback from the border… but I crossed in a truck instead, with the horses in the trailer behind.

It’s tempting to go back. To retrace steps. To allow my ego the show it was hoping for, and have them drive me back to where they picked me up so I don’t miss a mile.  But going backwards is not my thing. Accepting where I am, grateful for how I got here, and figuring out how and where to go from here…. makes more sense to me. There’s no need to prove some point. I think I have proven plenty. I am where I am and gotta trust it’s where I’m meant to be.

So wherever I get dropped off to ride tomorrow, well, that’s where we’ll start.  And keep on keeping on from there.

So…

Go! Get back out there, woman. Get this done. Go finish what you started.

  1. Adelante amiga!! So many lessons learnt and so many people , what do they say?
It takes a village, to raise a child.

  2. Just glad you are almost well! And, the horses are good!
